Support grows for improving driver safety on northern beaches

Former Pittwater Mayor Harvey Rose is the latest supporter of greater security for bus drivers on Sydney’s northern beaches.

He told the Manly Daily he is fed up with drivers and passengers being left vulnerable to abuse from teenage hooligans on the infamous L90 bus. Mr Rose is intent on setting up a committee called Save Our Buses.

Earlier this week, RTBU NSW Secretary of the Bus Division Chris Preston called for State Transit to ensure security staff were permanently operating on the L90 at certain times during the week (Thursday-Saturday, 7pm onwards). Mr Rose said Save Our Buses would help lobby for this measure.
