Paid information session for Newcastle staff
Following pressure from the union, the state government has agreed to a paid information session for all transport workers in Newcastle to explain their plans for establishing Transport for Newcastle and privatising the network.
The government has failed to be up front and honest with workers about their plans, which has meant that drivers have heard about changes that could affect their jobs from passengers or on the radio.
This is a valuable opportunity for staff to ask questions about the Transport for Newcastle initiative and what a private operator will mean for jobs and services on Newcastle.
During the stop work, no bus or ferry services will operate, and we would encourage all staff to attend this meeting to have their say.
Date: Wednesday 13 April 2016
