Newcastle takes action
Over the last few weeks we’ve been constantly calling on Keolis Downer to return to the bargaining table and stop hiding behind the Fair Work Commission proceedings.
We have also written to the Minister of Transport asking him to intervene in what has been truly unconscionable behaviour from this multinational organisation.
We continually hear from Keolis that they haven’t got a Log of Claims (LOC) from the RTBU. We have in fact sent them the LOC several times in several formats. In fact, if you work at Hamilton, then it’s been on the meal room wall for months now. If you’re buying into the company narrative that they have no log of claims then you’re listening to lies. Anyone running around actively promoting that is either deliberately misinformed or seeding division on purpose for the boss.

The plan is that most of the actions don’t cost members money – the point is to inconvenience the company and not cost members. This doesn’t mean that Keolis can’t tell you to go home if you’re not working as you normally would, but it would be a large escalation and would result in retaliation from the Union.
Ultimately, the entirety of the delay has been because the people representing the company have not wanted to engage, preferring to try and wear people down and pretend the delay is someone else’s fault. This helps no one.
Make no mistake – the company is in it for profit and profit alone. They don’t care about us or the community.
We are confident that this calendar of industrial action is the best way to force a change of approach from the company and bring them back to the bargaining table.
