Newcastle Herald: Keolis Downer vows to update timetables at Newcastle bus stops
By Michael Parris.
Keolis Downer plans to update information at its Newcastle bus stops in the next two to three weeks after launching new routes and timetables on Sunday.
Hunter-based transport advocate Darrell Harris visited about 20 stops on Monday and found none had the new route map and many had redundant route numbers and timetables.
He said stops around the Mater hospital and John Street, Warners Bay, displayed outdated bus details, and Glendale had information for the new route 13 but not for routes 29 and 46.
Other bus stops he visited at Wallsend and Jesmond had new timetable information but no route maps.
Keolis Downer said on Monday that it had started updating details on the city’s 2600 bus stops last week to avoid confusing travellers and would complete the job by late January or early February.
The rollout of new routes has attracted criticism from some commuters about the loss of bus stops and routes, buses not arriving on time and the number of transfers required to reach popular destinations.
