Newcastle Buses – RTBU holds crisis talks on Monday

Seven months later and we’re still experiencing the havoc of Constance’s privatisation scheme in Newcastle that has been plagued with problems since day one.

We’ve now pressured Keolis Downer to attend a crisis meeting on Monday morning, where we will raise our serious concerns about their inability to resolve these issues after many months of problems. Keolis Downer is still yet to implement a working roster and pay workers correctly.

This is an absolute disgrace and is exactly what happens when we have a Minister for Transport who recklessly flogs off public transport into the hands of private operators who are out to make a buck.

These are people’s livelihoods on the line. Our drivers need the security to tell their families when they’ll be home, and the money to put food on the table every night. The crisis meeting on Monday is a result of many months of frustration and it cannot continue any longer.
