Masking up, Yet Again

Jun 18, 2021COVID19

In typical fashion, the Government announced at 11am this morning that masks will be compulsory on public transport for the next 5 days, but didn’t tell anyone else beforehand. We now have the usual scramble from TfNSW and all operators to try and communicate this to their staff.

Masks will be compulsory on all public transport in the Greater Sydney Area for 5 days. This will take effect from 4pm today.

We encourage everyone to wear a mask not just because for the new rule, but for their own protection and that of their families.

The strain of COVID-19 in Sydney at the moment is the Delta variant, which is considered by the World Health Organisation to be capable of “significantly increased transmissibility”. That means it’s going to spread faster and more easily than the outbreaks we’ve had in the past. We know COVID-19 likes the cold and as we come into winter it’s more important than ever that members stay vigilant about protecting themselves.
