Bayside Council outrage at privatisation of bus regions

Bayside Council is outraged at the NSW Government’s privatisation decision of the remaining three bus regions from the STA.

Although NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian had promised not to privatise during her election campaign, she reneged on the promise last year.

Bayside Council has written to the Premier and Transport Minister expressing the community’s opposition to the decision.

RTBU NSW Tram and Bus Division Secretary David Babineau agreed with the Council’s outrage.

“We know the effects of privatisation – a total reduction in service. When there are private buses, the entire model is based on making money instead of providing a service to those that really need it.

“The government needs to start listening to the people it represents. Clearly the community isn’t happy with this decision and we hope the community will join us in fighting this battle.”
