Award negotiations halted

As part of the new IR laws, the state government has offered a standard 2.5% pay rise to bus drivers. However, in order to negotiate a rise higher than 2.5% the STA and the RTBU need to demonstrate “employee-related cost offsets”.

The government has indicated that they will clarify the parameters for negotiations regarding the cost offsets by Friday July 8.

Until these matters are clarified neither the STA or the RTBU are in a position to continue negotiations.

The union will endeavour to keep members informed.
