Region 8 Pay Issues
We met with KDNB on Monday for an update on the ongoing payroll issue and are meeting again next Friday. These meetings will be ongoing until the issues are sorted out.
KDNB has agreed to fund an audit as demanded by members. As before, members are cautioned that this process could reveal more bad than good. Feedback from members generally is they understand that an audit may show more debts to the company than to employees, but they want to be able to trust their pay is being delivered correctly.
A consultant from the company that runs HASTUS has flown out from Canada and will be spending some time with payroll specialists brought in by KDNB. The sooner this is sorted out the better, and they may find people are more willing to do overtime when workers know they won’t end up short or owing money afterwards.
KDNB is in the process of sorting out a ticketing system – which the union has requested – for employees to better track the pay queries and lend some transparency to the process.
An update will be provided next week on progress towards the timeline for an audit as well as fixing the ongoing issues.
While the RTBU is not responsible for paying you, we will continue to do everything we can to help the company get this right and put an end to the stress and confusion workers are having to deal with.
