Newcastle rally, Sunday 18 March – join us
Since the Transport Minister sold off Newcastle’s bus service to the private sector, the service in the region has descended into chaos.
First there were pay issues for the workers, then rostering problems, and then a timetable that doesn’t work for anyone was introduced. And the problems are continuing.
This is what happens when essential services are privatised. The needs of commuters and workers go out the window. We’ve seen it in Newcastle, and now that the Minister has sold off region 6 buses, there’s a chance we’ll see it there too.
It’s time for the NSW Transport Minister to own his error and fix the situation in Newcastle, and commit to keeping the rest of the state’s transport services in public hands.
We need to send the NSW Transport Minister, Andrew Constance, a message: fix Newcastle buses.
Come along to a public protest in Newcastle this weekend to support the campaign to have our buses restored.
When: Sunday 18 March, from 10.30am
Where: Gregson Park, Hamilton
