Life in the bus lane – Shadi Chamas

“I love my job. I like interacting with the people and Sydney is my office.
The hardest thing is the traffic, the roads. My advice for dealing with chaotic traffic is to be patient – that’s all you can do. Take it as it comes.
The worst traffic I drive through every day is around the domestic and international airports. In the afternoon peak the roads are clogged with taxis around Mascot, it’s really bad. The main problem is the phasing of the traffic lights.
I tell the passengers that my job isn’t to be on time, my job is to get you there safely. Of course, I’ll do the best I can to get you there on time too, but at the end of the day safety is the priority.”
