Protected industrial action: Work stoppage 10am to 2pm
Dear Members,
As you are aware, members have voted to take further industrial action to assist the bargaining process for an Enterprise Agreement.
On Monday, 22 September 2025, commencing from 10:00am to 2:00pm, members of the RTBU Tram and Bus Division will be taking protected industrial action.
To ensure there is no confusion on the day, members participating in this action are asked to follow the procedure outlined below:
- All service buses must be returned to their home depot by 9:52am for sign-off at 10:00am.
- The only exception to this is if a school service is in progress. All school runs must be completed in their entirety.
- If your home depot is Belmont, a privately-operated bus will depart from the front of the depot to transport members to Hamilton Depot for the rally.
- A barbequed lunch will be provided for members and participants at the rally.
- The return bus will depart Hamilton Depot at 1:10pm to transport members back to Belmont Depot. This service will run express with no stops to ensure members return in time to recommence work at 2:00pm.
- Members whose shifts finish between 10:00am and 2:00pm are not required to return to the depot.
- Members whose shifts are due to commence during the stop work period (10:00am–2:00pm) should commence their shift at 2:00pm, with rosters returning to normal from this time.
We ask that as many members as possible attend the rally. Family, friends, and supporters of Newcastle members are also invited. The rally is scheduled to commence at 10:30am.
In Solidarity,
RTBU Tram and Bus Division
