Member update: Keolis Downer Protected Industrial Action ballot
September 2, 2025
Dear Members,
As you’d no doubt be aware, progress has been slow with this bargain.
Deliberately slow in the opinion of the RTBU with the company playing games releasing delegates and unable to agree to the simplest of requests.
If we’re going to secure a decent Agreement, remind them who delivers the value and who’s earned a fair pay rise.
To help send that message, we will be running another Protected Action Ballot. Keolis objected to our application but when we had a hearing yesterday, they couldn’t give any valid reason for it not to go ahead in the way we applied for.
The Commissioner approved the ballot and also ruled that the RTBU has been bargaining in good faith. An important point given the company keeps making noises as if we are not.
It’s understandable though, after all the last thing they want to see is workers standing up for their rights!
We need to provide a member list to the FWC on Sept 4th, so please contact membership on (02) 9264-2511 or (02) 9319-7277 by noon this Thursday and confirm your contact details so you can vote with no problems.
It’s time to show Keolis that it cannot take its workforce for granted and vote YES to the ballot.
Let’s send a clear message to this company that they need to properly bargain with workers for a fair deal!
In Solidarity,
Your RTBU Bargaining Committee
